The American ACNES Foundation was founded by former ACNES patients that were able to secure a diagnosis and find treatment that resulted in long-term pain relief. The mission of the foundation is to help others with this condition, through education and support.
Hunter Jensen, Founder
Originally from Virginia Beach, Hunter now resides in San Diego with his wife. He is the Founder/CEO of Barefoot Solutions, a web, mobile and IoT software agency. He mysteriously began suffering in 2017 from abdominal wall pain and went over a year without a diagnosis, despite dozens of doctors and tests. In 2018, he discovered ACNES online and sought out physicians to verify the diagnosis and administer treatment. After many injections, Hunter met Steve who recommended a surgeon with expertise in ACNES, who performed his first bilateral neurectomy.
Steven Richter, Founder
Steve resides in San Diego with his wife and recently adopted kitten. He is an attorney specializing in e-commerce and privacy. He started suffering from severe abdominal pain after having his prostate removed in 2008. In 2018 his Orthopedic Surgeon decided to help Steve with researching what was causing his pain, and determined that ACNES was the likely culprit. After a series of injections, he was seen by Dr. Spinner at the Mayo Clinic in June, 2018. Dr. Spinner performed a neurectomy in June, and Steve has been pain free (and very grateful) since the surgery.
